About Chicago - Flights to Chicago

Chicago has an impressive (and complicated) past, but you can still imagine its exciting future. You've got the 'big city'—the skyscrapers, the banking center, the Ring (which is what locals term the central business area)—and the 'hyper local area' atmosphere in a very short space. It is a widespread belief that anything worth seeing is in the Loop. Crucially overshadowed by the New York City and Los Angeles coastal powerhouses, Flights to Chicago is on the rise, with a reported 55 million visitors in 2017 – and new direct flights from the United Kingdom to Norway and Wow are making the third largest city in the United States more available even called as the best place to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Though tourists prefer to converge around the downtown and lakefront areas to enjoy the city's world-famous architecture, there's a vibrant music and bar scene that shouldn't be overlooked.

Major Attractions

1. Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio: Wright planned and constructed his first home in 1889 on the basis of a $5,000 loan from his then employer and friend, Chicago 's seminal architect Louis Sullivan. Just 22 of them will constantly reshape the humble dwelling over the next two decades, so a visit here gives a rare glimpse into the architect's emerging thoughts. This is where Wright's budding architectural philosophy first bloomed.

2. Field Museum: This enormous museum, which examines civilizations and landscapes from around the world, occupies more than 400,000 square feet of display space. Interactive exhibits discover subjects such as the mysteries of Egyptian mummies, the crafts and inventions of people existing in the Old Americas, and the history of life on Earth. Originally sponsored by Chicago manufacturer Marshall Field, the museum was founded in 1893 to store materials obtained for the World Columbian Exhibition.

3. John G Shedd Aquarium: One of the most popular aquariums in the region, the Shedd is home to more than 32,500 species from around the world.

4. Museum of Contemporary Art: The MCA was established in 1967 by a group of art patrons who thought the great Art Institute was unresponsive to new works, and has remained a renegade art museum ever since. It has no permanent exhibits; this provides a sense of freshness, but it also makes it difficult to foresee what will be on view at any given moment. Special events are often dedicated to original displays that you can't see anywhere else.

Best Time to Visit

The months of June, September and October are hot and sunny. From November to March the temperature varies from brittle to bitter, April and May can alter between cold / soggy and bright / warm, and July and August can either be ideal or serve a dangerous mix of high heat and high humidity. That said, the only thing that is constant about Chicago's temperature, according to locals, is that it can alter in a second. If you're going to Chicago in colder months, you're going to be able to experience some of the popular outdoor festivals; during the holiday season, the area is decorated with decorations.
